WELCOME TO TEAM 6-3!
Welcome to sixth-grade and JJMS!!!!
The school year is off to a great start! There are so many new aspects to the school day for sixth-graders to adjust to: locker combinations, busy hallways, long walks between classes, day 1 and day 2 schedules, having many different teachers, managing multiple classes in Schoology, extra help, clubs, and a whole lot of buses at dismissal! It has been awesome to see all the students on Team 3 acclimating to middle school life!
There is a lot going on in our academic classes as well. In math, students are estimating and calculating sums, differences, products, and quotients with decimals. In science, the focus has been on learning and following the expectations for participating in science investigations. The ELA year started off with students creating independent reading Padlets, reviewing story elements, and responding to literature in conversation and writing. Our digital citizenship unit kicked off the year in SS, during which students explored what it means to live a responsible online life.
Finally, Team 3 sixth-graders had a chance to build relationships and grow as collaborators on our field trip to PNW BOCES Outdoor Center where they worked together to accomplish complex tasks through collective problems solving.
