Neurographic

Many of our 6th graders are currently rotating through their Unified Arts classes and are working on their Identity Name Sculptures in Art.

Students who have moved on to the next Art rotation are learning to use a variety of colored pencil techniques. After some focused skill-building exercises, they are creating Neurographic Art drawings—a process developed around 2015 by Russian psychologist Pavel Piscarev. This art form encourages students to transform feelings of chaos into something calm and peaceful through mindful linework and color blending.

Ask your young artist to share their process with you!

Technology

Mr. Zoeller’s 6th grade 8th period students are implementing the KLSD Solution Process to build a car out of two sheets of paper that keeps a raw egg “Passenger” safe during a front impact test.  Students started the rotation by identifying the project’s requirements and constraints and then explored the automotive industry and what keeps us safe in our cars. They brainstormed ideas which could be implemented and sketched out possible solutions. When they return to technology class, they will team up with a partner to choose the design they want to create, build a prototype, test it and improve their design before racing it down the ramp.
