WELCOME 7TH GRADERS!

Dear Seventh Grade Students,

Welcome to a new school year at John Jay Middle School. As your Assistant Principals, we are excited and hopeful as we begin this journey together

Whether you are returning after a summer filled with adventures and growth, or you are stepping through our doors for the first time, we want you to know how thrilled we are to have you as part of our school community.

At John Jay, we believe that every student matters. Our school is more than just a building—it is a vibrant community where your voice is valued and your dreams are encouraged. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels included and empowered to reach their fullest potential. Together, we will create an environment where kindness, respect, and curiosity thrive.

The start of a new school year brings fresh opportunities to challenge yourself and grow. This year, you’ll dive into new subjects, work on exciting projects, and participate in activities that will stretch your imagination. You’ll also learn important skills—like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving—that will serve you well long after you leave middle school.

This is the perfect time to set goals for yourself. Maybe you want to read more books, improve your math skills, make new friends, try out for a team, join the school musical, build a robot, or learn to play an instrument. Whatever your goals are, write them down and revisit them throughout the year. Celebrate your progress and remember that setbacks are a natural part of learning and growing.

Middle school can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you’re juggling homework, activities, and friendships. Take care of yourself by getting enough rest, eating well, and finding time for activities that make you happy. Never hesitate to reach out to any of us if you have questions about your schedule, need help with an assignment, or just need someone to talk to.  JJMS has an amazing team of teachers, counsellors, and staff who care deeply about your success and well-being. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help. We are here to support you.

As we embark on this new school year together, remember that you are capable of amazing things. Be safe. Be respectful. Be responsible. Embrace challenges, celebrate your successes and learn from your mistakes.

If you ever need anything, or simply want to share something exciting, come and find us. Our office doors are always open, and we are always happy to listen.

Wishing you a joyful, successful, and inspiring school year!
