Team TBD Welcome Letter - 7th

Summer 2022

Welcome to Team TBD! “Why TBD?”, you might ask. In the words of Rachel Ingber, “a name represents identity, a deep feeling and holds tremendous significance to its owner.” Thus, a name is more than a collection of consonants and vowels, but rather a statement of identity, vision, and purpose. So instead of teachers choosing a name for 50+ adolescents, we decided that our first item of team business will be for students to brainstorm and choose our team’s name! So, please ask your child to brainstorm inspirational (as well as aspirational) team names; they should be ready to share their favorite ideas with our team on their first day of school in September.

We hope seventh grade will be an engaging, positive experience for our students as we guide them through the seventh-grade curricula. We are an energetic and dedicated team of teachers who will collaborate with each other and your child to ensure academic success and social-emotional growth.

We look forward to partnering with you this year. For your child to fully reach their potential, we feel that communication between school and home is essential. Therefore, please keep the following information on hand:

  • In addition to being displayed in our classrooms, nightly homework assignments, long-term assignments, assessments, and team events will be posted on Schoology.
  • Please help your child check homework postings nightly. Schoology can be accessed at https://klschools.schoology.com/.
  • We recommend that you use your student’s Schoology account to periodically check their grades. Grades can be viewed by clicking on the Grades option on the left side of each individual class’s Schoology page. If you ever have any questions, please contact team teachers via e-mail.

Also, the seventh-grade supply list is posted on the JJMS website under the “Students and Parents” tab. Most class supplies are listed, but there may be a few additional items you will need to supplement. We will help your child organize their supplies. On the first day of school, your child only needs to bring a spiral notebook and pen. Again, we welcome your child to seventh grade, and hope that your summer vacation has been happy. healthy, and rejuvenating!

Sincerely,

The Seventh-Grade Team TBD
