24.25 Team Exuberance Welcome Letter
Exuberance: the quality of being full of energy, excitement and cheerfulness
Dear Team Exuberance Students and Parents/Families,
We hope you are enjoying your summer! A new school year is right around the corner. Hopefully, you are feeling excited and EXUBERANT about the soon-approaching school year.
As a sixth grader at John Jay Middle School, you will have many opportunities to grow, both as an individual and independent learner. On Team Exuberance we see learning as an adventure, so plan on investigating phenomena in science, exploring ancient civilizations in social studies, thinking as a mathematician, and exploring new ways to deepen your reading comprehension and advance your writing. One of our many goals is to help you discover what works best for you as a learner. Finding out who you are as a learner is as important as any content we will teach.
The sixth-grade supply list is posted on the school website under the “Students and Parents” tab. Upon arrival on the first day of school, please bring:
A copy of your schedule
Your login information
1 photograph – nothing irreplaceable, please - (no greater than 4x6) of you having summer fun
1 composition notebook
1 pair of low-cost wireless earbuds or compatible with USB C multiport adapter
1 large box of tissues
Throughout the first several days, we will explain how to set up your binder and effectively organize your supplies. As you know, you will each be receiving your iPad and an Apple Pencil to use during the year. These items will need to be labeled by the end of the first week of school.
We are looking forward to getting to know each one of you in the coming school year. As well, we hope that each of you will make many lively, vibrant, and EXUBERANT contributions to the team and the JJMS school community. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
Sincerely,
Mr. Amdur
Ms. Hedigan
Mrs. Kellachan (Team Leader)
