Our Commitments
Dear Team Excelsior student,
We hope you are enjoying your summer vacation! A new school year is right around the corner. We understand that your transition to John Jay Middle School might evoke a wide variety of emotions. Hopefully, one of those feelings is excitement! Coming to a new school can be a little scary, but we are confident that by the end of the first week of school you will be feeling very safe and comfortable.
On Team Excelsior, Mr. Weiss teaches math and science, Mrs. Daley-Savo teaches English language arts (ELA) and social studies.
Now that you are in sixth grade, you will have many opportunities to grow as an independent and curious learner and enjoy developing new perspectives. One of our goals for you is to learn organizational and time management strategies to help you navigate life at JJMS. These life-long skills are as important as any curriculum we will teach.
You may have purchased school supplies through the PTO (see website) or collected them on your own. On the first day, bring all the materials to school and we will help you organize them. We will provide you with additional information about what will stay in your locker, the classroom and at home.
We are looking forward to celebrating your successes in sixth grade and helping you see yourself with a new perspective. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Daley-Savo
Mr. Weiss
