Will the new literacy curriculum provide reading support to struggling readers in middle school and high school? (If so, how, and how do the recommendations differ from the current approach?)
Will the new literacy program have specific strategies and modifications to meet the needs of dyslexic students?
Will the literacy curriculum incorporate spelling and writing rules?
How will the new literacy curriculum relate to the math curriculum since the two relate to each other, particularly when dealing with the word problems?
How much time will be devoted each day to literacy, and how many days per week, with the new curriculum?
Will teachers need to continue to mix and match programs to meet student needs?
Will teachers be provided time to complete the program, even if that means reading instruction must continue past third grade?
Will the pullout for reading services be a “double dose” of the new curriculum? If so, how will kids qualify to receive it in upper grades?
Will there still be a “guided reading” (read by exposure) curriculum as well?
